So today I got in a debate with about 4 of my friends because they think polarstars should have a limit on ROF and FPS. I completely disagree. Ill give you guys 3 points and I can go on and on in the list.
1. A PolarStar at the airhouse usually runs about 20 - 30 give or take a few BB's. With an aeg the ROF is not adjustable therefore if the AEG shoots 35 BB's a second and there is a ROF rule that per say is 30. They can only use semi only. The point is a PolarStar is adjustable and an aeg is not so if there is a rof rule then that aeg is done for the day unless they use semi only.
2. People don't like polarstars and tend to call then out more because people are more intimidated by them because they run on compressed air. Not a battery which makes a "Scary Noise".
3. I don't keep my PolarStar on a higher FPS. I keep it on about 310-320. So what if someone has there PolarStar on 350? That's there FPS rule..and I believe if a gun chronoes in, its ok to use and if someone suspects that they're cheating by putting the fps on the field they can do a chrono check on the spot.
The point is that even though people always complain about polarstars everything you complain about isn't against the rules. If people have a PolarStar who will shoot me with 40+ BBs which is highly unlikely, you cant complain, a PolarStar has its advantages.
I personally got my PolarStar for trigger response and 3 round burst. Not to hurt people. If I wanted to hurt someone I would get a hakkotsu mortar. Everybody at the airhouse with a PolarStar doesn't use it to intentionally hurt people, believe me.

The problem I have is with the persons using the polar stars (not you rabbit). High ROF is only part of the problem. There is a lack of self control and the polar star user ends up ripping 5 bursts of 3 into one person under a second. I always explain this to pstar users and they defend themselves with "I have it on 3 rnd burst". Which is fine, but overkilling players is mean and unnecessary.
The only polar star users I have seen use them as they should is Gunny and Shamrock.
Again rabbit I have not faced you with yours so I am not judging you.

WOW, I guess I will fall into that group as with Gunny and Shamrock. I did not realize that there was such a problem with people over killing others wiht P*'s

I didn't even know you had a polar star doc. I have seen 2 polar star users do the same thing and it is quite annoying.

It's just sometimes, it's easy to get way over killed. I've played at other fields, and a couple times at KA, where I was hit the first bb, then came 35 more before I had time to blink. Much less call my hit. Polar stars are fine by me, so long as they are used in a responsible way (Trigger control!).just about everyone at KA it great with this though, but I've still had it happen a couple times.

Yes I agree I know there have been a few instances were I have been showered by a polar star. Once had to yell hit as loud as I could 3 times before they stopped firing. I seriously about threw my ATP at them but that would have made things much worse. Anyway I know for a fact it wasn't Gunny he wasn't there that day and I'm pretty sure Sham didn't have his pstar at that point but some players need to learn control. If we all keep an eye out and inform the refs when a Polar Star user is getting a little to trigger happy they will take care of it and i'm sure we can prevent this from becoming a problem

This is an issue of character and discipline.
I would like to say first and foremost that I am the most under qualified person to lecture on character seeing as I am KA's token angry psychopath, however, I think I might be able to contribute.
This all comes down to one thing; just because you CAN do something, doesn't necessarily mean you SHOULD.
So just because you can run a P* at lightning speeds and be a veritable death machine doesn't mean you should. I would like to also say that if you WANT to run the P* at high ROF, you should just be aware of what you are doing at all times.
Most people can handle this and after a few rounds with their new setup get a good feeling for how the gun runs. Simple.
So my word of warning is; if you run the gun fast be doubly aware of what you are doing so nobody gets hurt and wants to introduce yet another rule to our Airsoft that, up to this point, has been minimalistic in it's regulation of our games.
Now to switch gears; we need to be honest with ourselves in order to reach a honest and complete conclusion. There are some people who are intimidated by Polar Stars or who have some sort of personal vendetta who at any opportunity try to vilify P* users and the P* system. I don't know why, but they do.
So we have to draw the line between feels and actual concern.
Getting overkilled sucks, create a culture that stigmatizes overkilling and excess in gameplay. At the same time, understand that getting shot repeatedly with plastic bb's is the name of the game. If you don't like it, play another sport.

Exactly sham. No need to limit our sport with more unnecessary rules. I think polar stars are fine, in responsible hands. Thankfully everybody at KA handles their P*s very well.

I feel if everyone could keep their FPS around 310 to 320 then I could care less on the ROF. A few weeks ago I was playing and when I turned a corner someone with a polarstar shot up my right arm (was about 4 feet away) with 6-7 bbs, half of which started bleeding over my new shirt. Later that day I turned a corner and scared someone on the other team and he shot up my other arm from an inch away and it hardly left a mark, but still hurt like mad.
I mostly feel that as long as they are not running at 350 exact then I could care less, in fact I think its fun when running around outside and a spray of bbs are flying at you.

Iguess I should put my .02cents in since I was the first one with a P*. When I first got it. I had the ROF jacked up fast with an amplifier on the barrel. It scared the hell out of everyone. I was quickly labeled as the most hated player at AofK. (yes back when Tino and Bill ran it). My own teammates hated playing against me.
That was not the label that I wanted attached to myself.
I have my ROF at 19-20. I have my FPS at around 295. That is all you need to play at the air house. There are plenty of AEG's that shoot a higher ROF and FPS. I know because I regularly get shot by them. ( yes I usually get the crap shot out of me). As Sham and Spaz said. It is usually the User of the gun that determines how the other players perceive the gun. Those of us with the P*'s need to be extra careful how we use them. I mainly got mine for the reliability and trigger response. I hate $hit that breaks all the time.
One last note. If anyone ever has a problem with my gameplay or equipment. Please say something to me. I will never get mad.
I love the game of airsoft. I love the adrenalin rush and I don't mind getting shot repeatedly.
