A half tooth piston has the teeth removed on one side of the piston.

Then aren't there pistons with the first tooth taken off?

A half tooth piston is designed to work with helical gears. Instead of being 1/4" wide teeth, tbey are 1/8" wide teeth. If you are still running the stock gears, use a full tooth
