Hello, my friend and I have always wanted to try Airsoft but money was always tight, but now we are graduated from highschool and working, so we figured to give it a shot over the summer. My question is that I see a bunch of people wearing really nice gear and are very tactical looking, what should somebody new to airsoft wear or should it just be regular clothes that would be comfortable to make quick movements and being in combat situations?

You really don't need much at all to be effective, usually some clothes you don't care if they get ripped or dirty, and either a inexpensive chest rig/plate carrier or even a belt rig will be more than enough. All I recommend is, if you think you will be sticking around with the sport for decent amount of time, invest in a low, to mid range plate carrier, brands like condoor make decent quality gear for reasonable prices. Plate carriers are also extremely customizable and also look the best in my opinion, and stick to green or tan based gear. I know black looks cool, but a few months/years down the line when you want to start playing outdoors or go to bigger games, you'll be kicking yourself like I am for getting nothing but black gear. Haha. In the end, anything you can wear that will carry a few magazines will be more than enough to get you started. I hope this helps and if it hasn't been said before, welcome to the forums!

Thanks man, another question is do the rental rifles give a fighting chance or are we going to be under powered?

The rental guns arent too bad. Alot of people who use them don't do too bad on the field.

Thanks man, another question is do the rental rifles give a fighting chance or are we going to be under powered? My issue with people renting guns is that it is very expensive. My advice is to come out and play a game with a rental, see if you even like it first. Then, if you decide that you like airsoft and would like to continue playing for a while, to purchase a gun from online so that way you will not loose a ton of money renting guns every time you come. Some basic things you will need are a pair of goggles (notice how I did not say paintball mask), some sort of lower face protection is optional, be it a shemagh or metal mesh mask. You will also need a gun, battery and charger of course. And bb's (I highly recommend .25 gram+ for better accuracy). If you get even more into it, as mentioned above, purchase a OD or tan plate carrier with 3-5 midcap magazines, after that maybe even a used BDU. That should be enough to get you really started. -Elvis
