I hope everyone has good Memorial Day, and thank you to all who are currently serving, and those who have served previously. It is an honor and great joy to run with all of you here at kalamazoo airsoft.
First off, a little back story: I've been playing at kalamazoo airsoft for around 2 years now, and in the games I have most recently attended, I've noticed a sharp decrease in hit calling issues. I've heard otherwise from other people, but the groups I've played with have been quite good. However I've noticed that spawn camping is still an issue. To me nothing ruins the game more than getting stuck inside and barely being able to leave the spawn. Even when the refs switch up players to "even" things out it ends up going the other way with us spawn camping the other team. Now I know a good hard working team can reverse the tide of a game, but let's face it I'm sure everyone's been in that situation where they can't get a team working well enough to make an effective push.
Now to my idea: the idea came to me while watching a documentary on snipers. Someone said "a single sniper can hold up the advance of an entire battalion." That gave me the idea of, why not put a "ref" up on the upper floor with a decent sniper rifle, bolt action, aeg or what ever, and make sure he is in radio contact with the other refs.
If there are hit calling issues a ref on the ground head over to the player in question, he can then radio the sniper to take the shot, and if he calls it the ref nearby will walk up to the player and say "that was a test, you passed, an play on". If not then the player should be dealt with in the appropriate manner.
Now for spawn camping/being trapped indoors, we could do something like (sorry I can't remember the games name) where one team is attacking the objective, and the other defends. (Not attack and defend) they allowed the defending team to post two snipers on the upper levels. Why not do a similar thing, allow a member or two of the team being camped to go upstairs and try to take out a few players and allow the rest of their team to push out more successfully.
Now this is just an idea and I'm open to possibly refining this idea further, but it might be worth trying. Let me know what you think.
