After the response to my other thread you all talked me into going with a 7.4 lipo for my new AEG. (HOPE IT GETS HERE BY THE WEEKEND!!!) Now I have a couple more questions specifically about using Lipos
First - Do I need to install a "cut off" sensor? Not sure the technical term for it but I know when I was looking to switch to battery RC trucks you had to make sure you had a cut out system to shut the truck down when the voltage got to a certain level to protect the battery. How does this apply to AEGs?
Second - how should lipos be stored? If I remember right you need to store them with a charge unlike NIMH? I got my son a discharger for his batteries and I am wondering if I need to use it with the lipo. Any input on this?
Thanks all. I know I am asking some rookie questions but I appreciate the input.

LiPos get stored charged, so dont use the discharger.
And I personally do not use any voltage alarms or anything. LiPos have a steep discharge curve meaning that they keep their voltage up until the very end. What this means for an AEG is that unlike with a NimH where you can hear the battery dying for a while, the gun will sound the same and perform the same up until the LiPo dies. My rule of thumb, as soon as the gun sounds like its dying, stop shooting. I havent ruined a LiPo in the 4 years I have been using them.

I've over-discharged several 11.1's on accident, but no big issues yet. Most of them are getting really old (in battery years) anyway.
