OK so I am a newbie or n00b or inexperienced or whatever. And I was wondering what are the differences between polarstar and AEG airsoft guns besides that polarstar is just compressed air. I just kinda want to know like price difference, what you have to carry, bb's per second I guess, pros and cons of each, and pretty much every difference. Thank you so much! -snowman

Polarstar- 60RPS, 600-800 dollars, almost never break, expensive to fix, less range, good accuracy. AEG- 10-40RPS, 100-300 dollars, breaks more often, cheap to fix, more range, decent accuracy. Its really just personal preference. i like aeg's more because i almost never go full auto.

^all this broscience
Polarstars are fully programmable so to imply that 60rps is standard is not true.
Secondly; accuracy and range have to do with the hop-up and barrel setup, so I don't know where you got "good accuracy" and "bad range from". I will say this; my P* outperforms my old Ares in every way and my Ares was highly upgraded.
Third; a P* on semi is better by design than a AEG on semi.

Thats funny, my P* only shoots 20 rps. Thats because any higher than that and everyone hates you. Yes they can be programmed to shoot very high rates of fire.
The P* platform is very versatile. With just a barrel and and rail swap you can go from CQB to DMR and anywhere in between in a matter of minutes.
Very few moving parts versus AEG with many spinning parts.
Trigger response can be made instant.
It is easier to make a P* more accurate due to a more consistent FPS spread.
P* has very few problems. The one that Sham has was my very first one. It was one of the very first P*s produced. When he got it. It had over half a million rounds thru it. Its still going strong! With about $5 worth of O rings it can be rebuilt.
Cons A P* is expensive in the beginning but this expense goes away if you play airsoft a lot due to AEGs breaking more often.
You have to carry an air tank.
That air tank has to be filled with a very high pressure compressor ( 4500psi)
Some people seem to think you are invincible when you have one ( not true, I get the crap killed out of me all the time.)

I have more questions as well.....How much do the air tanks cost? Also how heavy is it and where could you fill it up? How long does a fully charged air tank last? Where could you get an air tank and a P* gun? Also how do you program it to different autos (ex: semi auto, fully auto three round burst) and different rps? Thanks.

Here are KA's current prices as I recall them...
Fusion Engine - 450.00 Ninja 90cu 4500psi tank with reg- 160.00 Air line and reg- 75.00
If you have a tank suitable for use it's 50.00 for the SLP regulator
That is all before you buy a gun to put it all into. I'm sure Loony or Infidel can correct any of the costs if I have them wrong.

Is the air tank of the p* the same as a paintball gun air tank?

That's what I plan to convert. I have a Crossfire 68cu 4500psi tank with a LPR ( Low Pressure Regulator) However as I understand it P* use a Super Low Pressure Regulator that operates at 120psi. So to use my former paintball tank I'll have to buy a different regulator and just swap it with the one on my current tank.

I'll probably be buying a complete polar star package from KA.
