What kind of paint do people use to apply camos to their guns? I was thinking about sprucing my MP7 up a bit.

I think you can just use spray paint.
There was a great tutorial, I don't remember if it was on this forum or the old Airsoft of Kalamazoo forum, but after an hour of searching I couldn't find it.
Basically all they did was cover up the important parts of the gun with tape then sprayed a tan base layer. Then they took different sized twigs, leaves, and random brush they found outside and held it up to the gun as they sprayed different shades of brown and green. I think they also used a little black and gray.
If I am wrong please correct me. Sorry I couldn't find the tutorial for you.

That's about it Boomer. I might add though, get an adhesion promoter as well. Spray it on and let it set before you start the painting process. I just painted mine and neglected that step (I forgot to take my own advice) and it seems the paint might not stay on as well as I'd like. Regular spray paint can have a hard time sticking to plastic or very smooth surfaces. I'd suggest taking some steel wool to your gun before doing anything. A rougher surface will hold the paint better and your efforts will last longer. You can also use products like Duracoat which will hold up better but that requires special equipment and a lot more planning. Hope that helps.

Thanks to both of you. I'll definitely look into the adhesion promoter.

As cool as custom paint is, you should probably look into getting a specific camo pattern for your paint. If you really want to do freehand custom I would suggest you practice on some cardboard the first few times.

For a digital pattern, you'll need to use a lot of stencils or stickers, whatever you want to call them. It will take an extremely long time too. It took two days (stupid rain) to finish my bar10, I only cut some tape to make a fancy design into the paint. Before you go trying something fancy like digital, get used to painting a gun and try something simpler (if that's a word). Maybe try snakeskin, solid colors or something easier.

Snake skin and foliage can be accomplished very easily. They also look good and are almost impossible to mess up. Great place to start.
