So, it's happened.NY now has the most unconstitutional firearms laws in the US. The bill that passed was drafted 20 min before the vote in complete secrecy, and passed just before 12PM last night. There were no committees, no public input. Just a bunch of shady backroom deals that have begun the "disarmament" stage of a tyrannical government that WE THE PEOPLE have no control over. I am no conspiracy nut, but this reeks of dishonest, disloyal politics, and well.... conspiracy. Anyone who can should contact their state and local congress men/women and let them know your position on the subject.

This is a great power size by the government mainly the president and Vice President. They have no grounds to be taking weapons away from us. We're not in a crisis so the president can't put out an executive order getting rid of assault rifles. And I doubt any gun control laws will make it through congress anytime soon.

ni he means m4, he wants to go to jail Actually it's possible to own an M4 but you need a ATF class 3 gun permit and the gun has to be lawfully registered before May 19, 1986......LAWYERED!!!!

They definitely have the most strict laws now of any state. I can actually see other states follow suit.

Yes but many states simply won't like Texas for instance many of there county sheriffs sent letters to the White House stating that they will not enforce any new laws on gun control.

I urge all of you- Please join the NRA.
They will never take our firearms away.
Bad guys will continue to do mass shooting in gun free zones (schools, theaters, malls..etc) because they know there are no guns there to shoot back.
Once they allow teachers, mall cops and others to carry a concealed firearm this will DRASTICALLY decrease.
NRA stats from the website- A mass shooting where law enforcement ended the killers rampage- 14.2 innocent victims killed or injured.
A mass shooting where a civilian with a CCW/CPL ended the killers rampage- 2.4 innocent victims killed or injured.
My NRA instructor showed us these during our CPL class.... interesting

The only flaw in the logic if giving/allowing teachers to carry concealed is that they will "drastically" decrease gun free zone shootings.
Teachers are ment to teach not carry firearms in school. The schools and I mean each district needs to do a full security assessment and see if hiring a security firm to work within/out of the school to patrol and keep them "safer".
Im sorry but you can not train someone to kill someone else. Especially if that person is a teacher where they are taught to have compassion. Im sorry but the second I reach for my CCW, I have swithced off the nice switch and have gone into "kill" mode. If you can't do that, there is no amount of training that can.
I want you all to think about this long and hard. Also be honest with your self on this as well.
Do you think you really can pull a gun, aim it at someone else and take another's life? Think about it.
Now back to the NY state gun ban.

Honestly to answer your question two of my teachers are ex military and I am pretty sure that they would be able to change into that mode in a heart beat if it meant protecting their students. Now with that in mind what you said is actually right on the money besides for those two teachers, mother rest of my teachers probably wouldn't be able to point a weapon at another human being. So ya what you said about hiring private security groups or something like that makes sense. but why would that stop those few teachers that would actually do something if the situation arouse from having a weapon on them to defend themselves and their students?

Gost,
I hear what you are saying, so you know of two of your "Teachers" that are ex-military. You are probably right they may be able to do what I had been talking about. However, their job is to educate, not carry a fire arm while they are in the classroom. See what Im getting at?
Good remark though.

Ya I complete understand what your getting at. But now this might offend some people, but what if one of those teachers that were involved in a school shooting had a firearm and used it, would we still see the same horrific body count? Now your idea of putting security firms in charge of school protection would solve the problem but I honestly don't see this happening in the near future. Instead the government would rather take away all weapons and leave every one defenseless. And then some crazed sociopath would find a way to get a gun and do the something and no one would be able to stop him/her before the damage is done. Now I am not disagreeing with you that teachers aren't supposed to worry about having a weapon on them while they are teaching students, but as a student it would make me feel a whole safer knowing that my teacher could actually defend us in the event that someone was trying to kill us.
Food for thought. great way to look at it though Doc never thought about it from that perspective
