At the end of the day, regardless of who won, I have to express my acute dissapointment that only one third of the country actually voted. Only 102,000,000 people came out and voted today according to politico.com.
Is this how we want to keep the legacy of our forefathers alive?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the great depression get worse before it got better? Former President Bush left a huge hole for America to try and get out of, not to mention how many of the bills that Obama tried to pass that the Republicans blocked, that would have helped.

Everyone take a deep breath. It is never as bad as it seems. If you want to make a difference in your politics pay closer attention to your local politics and be more involved in the election of local officials.
Also, bear in mind that the President has his power checked by the Legislative branch so if you don't like the President's politics, whoever he may be, do your best to elect more state officials who will vote against "X" policy.
So many people think simply voting for a President is the extent of how politically involved they should be. If that is all you want to do, then by all means do what you like. However, if you care about who your local officials are and what proposals get passed, then you should vote on every single one. That way you will have a basis for your disappointment when things don't go according to your political inclinations.
Do your best and remember that there are numerous craphole countries the world over where people have no representation whatsoever. We still have ours so take advantage.

Very we'll put its disappointing how few Americans are actually knowledgeable in politics. The thing I'm most annoyed by is when you ask someone who do you want to when the election or what are your views on a certain policie and there response is oh I don't really care I don't pay attention to politics.......WHAT!!!!! It's our responsibility as American citizens to know what's going on because it is in fact OUR country. Sorry didn't mean to rant that just really bugs me.

Yeah, that is really valid, Miller. I agree that we should take time to learn what we can.
What we also have to realize is that many Americans are alienated by the junk news they are forced to watch to learn about their politics. Hopefully in the future we will see a resurgence of social awareness that forces these news outlets to actually provide news as opposed to entertainment and that goes for all sides.
I honestly think that if people took 15 minutes a day to learn more about their politics they would be able to draw more informed conclusions and make choices based on their personal moral compass. Just 15 minutes.

Please let me know what "bills" you are talking about? As for the cost of the wars yes those are hard, but hey we did it and those wars are coming to an end, due to the planning of Pres. Bush put into action before he left office. As for Pres. Oboma, he has stepped all over the Constitution. On top of his cover ups in Libya and with Fast and Furious... Also why does he have/had his education records sealed f rom college.... Still trying to hide something. Again Im going to make a prediction on what we will see in the next 4 yrs, and this is just a prediction I could be wrong. Unemployment will increase by 30-40% People on Food Stamps will increase 20-25% People on Welfare will increaee - 20-25% Government will increase in size by 130% (as it happened this past 4 yrs. EPA grew over 135%) National Dept will be between $20-$25 Trillion. I hope Im wrong on this, but we will have to wait and see.

As stated before, as long as the post in this thread are kept civil and nothing is getting out of hand then there is not a problem.

I can EASILY see welfare and food stamp rates increasing in that time too. Because, let's face it, our country is becoming more and more lazy.
I just say if all goes to Hell in America I will leave, settle back in South Korea, and hang with the richies in Gangnam ;D the only thing that is threatening ROK is that group of annoying little pests that share our peninsula if you know who I'm talking about.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the great depression get worse before it got better? Yea, but the only thing that pulled us out of it occurred on December 7, 1941. Need another clue? Pearl Harbor. Our military was so bad and underdeveloped that we needed to rapidly strengthen it. And yes it was horrible. It was ranked 17th in the world at the time so there was no way we could fight the Empire of Japan who had conquered most of China and South Pacifc and had some troops to spare. So how did it bring us out? I believe Nationalism was a huge benefit, which I feel is lacking today. Everyone (young and old, men and women, rich and poor) worked tirelessly to bring Victory to the Allies. After all, they are regarded as the Greatest Generation. Now we're all about ourselves. Sorry if I went a bit off topic. I love WWII. Also, sorry for the double post!
