How about we leave North Korea alone and just leave South Korea to deal with the situation?

To the far east this is all known as saber rattling. It's old to us here in America and Britain and France, Germany, Poland etc. It's basically someone trying to look tough to strengthen their image. While annoying and something to moniter it does not mean we will be going to war anytime soon, IMO and in the opinion of the article. It was done hugely during WWI and pre WWII.
As for just leaving South Korea? Thats just not how it works, one cannot just leave allies behind. If we left them behind they would not deal with the situation. They would not withstand an all out war from North Korea. North Korea is rabid dog born of China, and now China can't even control what was once a puppet state. Letting Korea capture South Korea might also put capable nuclear strike within their control. However one could argue that the entire world needs to stay out of alliances, trust me when I say watch more then South Korea fall and map lines change. Many smaller nations would not exsist, look at the middle east and Georgia, which is still under Russian Occupation.
In other news everyone this year is doing operations involving russia and other nations at war with the US, Operation Origins has a gearing up backdrop for sure now. Nothing to worry about here at home, but it is something to moniter.

Kim Jong Un has small dog syndrome. He wants to be tough.
He isn't going to play by the rules, we (america) will have to be ready for a long drawn out war against them and who ever decides to be their butt buddy. I'll give it about 5 months to escalate to a war, hopefully it won't though.

Don't worry guys, the South Korean is here to provide my input.
So for anyone who doesn't know where this all originated you can thank the Japanese and their obsession with Imperialism. In May or June of 1910 Japan annexed Korea, and controlled it until they surrendered to the United States in 1945 at the close of World War II. When Korea was transitioning between being an annexed country to an independent nation they were still "broken" on many levels including a sound government. USSR saw this opportunity and came in from the north the establish Communism while the US came in from the south to establish Democracy, and from there the North and South parted ways.
I do not see North Korea actually going through this threat one bit. If there's anything we have to keep in mind at times like this it's that North Korea is a "saber rattling" nation, and have been since they were founded. The way I see it, DPRK is just raising the bar for themselves. So I think that we'll be ok as far as not rushing into a war with them. My understanding is that they still don't have the capabilities to send nuclear weapons to the CONUS (Continental US) just yet.
Also, why the H*ll would we leave South Korea to fend for themselves at a time like this?! South Korea and the United States share an extremely close alliance with each other since, after all, we basically "created" that republic just after the Second World War. While South Korea has a great military they have no nuclear weapons in their possession. North Korea does.
Plus, if you want to get real technical, the Korean War never officially ended. The United States and South Korea have just been in a +/- 60 year cease fire since the initial war "ended" in 1953. Most people don't know that fact. So in reality we've been at war with DPRK all this time, but at the same time we aren't (if that makes sense).
This is just my opinion. I hope that North Korea keeps the status quo and just keeps making pitiful threats. I think all of us can agree that the last thing we need right now in America is to get involved in another war. However, if South Korea does get attacked I support immediate actions against North Korea.

I knew there was a cease fire and that the war was technically still on, I meant breaking the cease fire when I said "I'll give it about 5 months to escalate to a war"
Well I guess I was wrong on the five month guess if they want to go right now.

North Korean propaganda is just a white noise of empty threats and unsupported boasting. There's no invading the US by sea, as winning a naval battle against the Pacific fleet alone would be like fending off an angry bear with a spork- And while some would be quick to point out that they have a large ground force, that becomes less impressive when you hear they are reportedly mostly armed with glorified farm equipment. If they wanted to fight the US, such a fight would be done on their own soil, if you know what I mean.

I agree. Their military has been untested since the Korean War. That's also a factor between victory or defeat with force on force warfare. Our military is way more experienced than DPRK, which I think is clearly obvious.

Our military is also way more advanced than the taliban and al queda. Look how far that's gotten us. It's not what we have, it's how we use it.

Our military is also way more advanced than the taliban and al queda. Look how far that's gotten us. It's not what we have, it's how we use it. That is a conflict against guerilla warfare. This would be a nation vs nation conflict. Area bombing, jet fighters, nuclear arms threats. Basically a button pusher war.

That's what I was referring to. Of course the Taliban and Al Queda had the upper hand in that conflict. Thanks, Spaz.
