Sorry I was in the emergency room had one arm hooked to iv and could type. Maybe you should focus on your health instead of trying to prove a point over the Internet..... This thread was NOT made to point fingers and that is what it looks like it's coming down to. I think that the point has been made and certain individuals SHOULD get a PM from a mod about cleaning things up a bit. Rules are far and few here on this particular forum. They are simple and easy to follow if you can't follow them just leave. This should be the final post in my opinion. !!!MODS PLEASE LOCK!!!

I am going to get an official post up here in the next few days.
I do not have a problem with the occasional spelling or grammatical error, its not a big deal. Bottom line, if you put forth effort to make yourself appear intelligent, humble, and polite all while representing yourself as a productive, intelligent member of the forum then you will be welcomed with open arms. To the people that think representing yourself isnt important, please go apply for a job.

Well I cant speak for everyone but I can speak for my self. Ive always struggled with spelling and grammar. I went most of my school years in special ed to help me out with these areas and sadly they wasn't the most successful.
Just because ONE or more people cant spell good or have poor grammar that is NOT a representation of Kalamazoo airsoft as a whole. Thats just crazy....That just means whoever wrote that post sucks at spelling and grammar.
IMO I think this is such a useless thing to worry about. Where here to discuss airsoft. Not be grammar teachers. Grammar and spelling has always been my weakest attribute the last thing I need is people correcting me on how to talk or write.
How people write is not a representation on how smart someone is. Albert Einstein had poor grammar and spelling in both English and German, but we can`t say he isn't smart. I`m no Einstein, but I have a very wide range of knowledge from simple thing like building computers to complex things like what quark gluon plasma is and how its made to stupid silly thing like Stone Ape Theory and Conflict Minerals. At the same time There an`t a chance in hell I could ever write as well as I can speak about it. I just cant.
I personally think it says more about an individual who gets irritated or upset at something small like not caping all your I`s or adding commas and periods where there needed. That`s pretty sensitive.
If someone is going to judge me based on my spelling before getting to know me face to face as a person not just black and white text, then its probably better I don't associate my self with them anyways. I like to stay positive and surround my self with positive people. Not high strung uptight people. life is to short for that. I'm not saying anyone here specifically is high strong I'm just saying in general.
PS You can thank MS Word for what good grammar and spelling came out of this post....Funny part is my grammar and spelling is so bad that things still get missed up lol...
Anyways that`s just my 2 cents.

It is nice to be able to read what someone wrote, without reading the same sentience five different times though.

Just because ONE or more people cant spell good or have poor grammar that is NOT a representation of Kalamazoo airsoft as a whole. Thats just crazy....That just means whoever wrote that post sucks at spelling and grammar. Correct, while improper spelling and grammar does not directly represent Kalamazoo Airsoft, it does have an indirect affect on the community. For example, an individual researching airsoft after hearing about a tragic event in which a adolescent was gunned down by police officers after foolishly brandishing an airsoft gun in public will think poorly of the sport if in their research all they come across are posts made by individuals incorrectly using basic grammar skills. It is very possible that the said researcher could buy into the media based BS that all airsoft is is children running around with "dangerous" toy guns. IMO I think this is such a useless thing to worry about. Where here to discuss airsoft. Not be grammar teachers. Grammar and spelling has always been my weakest attribute the last thing I need is people correcting me on how to talk or write. Correct. It ultimately boils down to the fact that we are here to talk about airsoft. However, in order to do so, I personally would like to be able to read an individual's post once and understand what is being said, rather than re-reading a post that seems to be written in alien tongue. It is ultimately a common courtesy issue. Your argument also falls apart when you apply the same ideas to other situations and scenarios. I don't know if you have a job or not, so bare with me through this analogy. Say you are a journalist for a newspaper company and your boss has assigned you the project of writing an article on a new car. Just because you are there to write about a new car does not mean you should write like an infant. Your better believe that your boss will correct you on the way you write. Practicing proper technique now will save you trouble down the road. Its that simple. No one is claiming that you are dumb. They are merely stating that some people on this forum have improper grammar. While it really boils down to whether or not you think the way someone writes correlates to their brightness, many people do. PS You can thank MS Word for what good grammar and spelling came out of this post....Funny part is my grammar and spelling is so bad that things still get missed up lol... I honestly commend you for taking the time to run your post through MS Word. Despite some minor errors (everyone makes mistakes, myself included), your post was easy to read and was very comprehensible. While it may seem insignificant to you, I respect you for making an effort. It really goes a long way.

As long as you make an effort to make a legible post no one will complain to much. If you get really lazy with your grammar and people can't read it then it's pretty useless even if it's the best thing to ever happen to airsoft.

Before I continue I just want to clarify I don`t have a problem with people correcting people here on grammar. I just think in the world we live in, there are bigger issues to worry about. My problem is the notion of warnings, temp bans. and perm bans for not being a good speller or having bad grammar.
I assure you if someone is reading an article about a kid being shot carrying a airsoft rifle the last thing there going to care about is the grammar. There not there looking for grammar. There looking for information. At worst they would find a different source to read from.
Ive been rocking the internet since windows 3.1 was new lol. Never have I judged a group of people on a forum or message board from one persons bad grammar. That`s just a funny form of racism minus the race imo.
If were going to nitpick stuff like caping I`s and adding periods, why don't we get rid of stuff like, lol, lmao, roflmao, bbl, gg, and all those texting based words? I see plenty of Lols (7 spell checks in 3 lines... must be a record lol)
I`ve never read a single post on this board that is unreadable. Some are funny looking sure, and you may have to read it a few times,(takes a couple seconds to read it a again not that big of a deal.) but that can be do to someone writing abilities. Some people don't write well...So they should be punished? What if what they wrote is there best effort and its still horrible? Who`s to judge? Some people aren't born with all there marbles and fail to remember simple things. Some people are born in poorly educated communities. A few of my friends live in these type of areas. One of the greatest people you will ever meet, but writes at a 2nd grad level. So I should probably tell him to stay off the board? MS Word doesn't even know what he`s trying to say its so bad....
I understand the point your trying to make about the whole journalist scenario....however not a good analogy since the individual probably already knows he has weak writing skills, so that would be the last job he would ever apply for. That`s why there are factory's and many entrepreneurship business opportunities. stick to what you know and learn more about it, but again this is not a journalist job where people are required to write at a college level. Its an airsoft message board, but again I do understand the point.
That`s about all the amount of time I want to spend on this subject.I think my opinion on this is clear. I will digress.
Now for another 15 minutes of correcting my best effort to be suitable for the judges ;D (all a joke by the way)

I can understand your point and respect your opinion. I however will agree to disagree haha. Thanks for taking the time to discuss this "issue" in a calm and sensible manner though. To many times have I run across individuals raging/arguing that it is their way or the highway (I'm prone to this occasionally). So it is relieving to have a sensible discussion with others. +1 for you sir. Edit: For spell-checking ;D

I assure you if someone is reading an article about a kid being shot carrying a airsoft rifle the last thing there going to care about is the grammar. There not there looking for grammar. There looking for information. At worst they would find a different source to read from. I am going to have to respectfully disagree with you here. If I were reading an article that had poor grammar I wouldn't take it seriously. The story wouldn't even matter at that point because I would think the whole thing a joke. But you are correct in the fact that I would find another source. Therein lies the problem. I too, have meandered across the internet for many moons. Anytime I came across boards that were more bad grammar than good I would pass it along. That is what everyone is trying to avoid. We don't want newcomers to see what might appear to be the rants and raves of children and imbeciles(I am not saying anyone on these boards is either.) and think that we are a hot mess and just pass up a really awesome community. You may not judge based on grammar but this is the internet, many people do. As much as it may not be fair, it is human nature to judge others. On the internet you don't have the luxury of face to face discussions so grammar is what is used to best represent oneself. I do understand where you are coming from when you say some people just can't grasp grammar as others can. That is why I am not on here playing grammar Nazi correcting people left and right. Hell, my grammar is far from perfect. As long as people make a conscious effort to be legible and stay respectful of others I foresee no problems. For the short time I have been a part of it, this community is awesome.(Which is a judgement call based on my opinions.) The best part being we can shoot the crap out of each other every weekend, then laugh about it as we tell our war stories. There have been disagreements. Every community has had them. But they always get resolved without any nasty flame wars and to me, that really brings a lot of respect to you guys from my corner.

I have to say one thing. Since I've become a moderator I've modified quite a lot of posts. Throughout this thread different people have mentioned that they want this forum to look "clean" or "profession". I don't mind modifying and correcting a user's post, but it does look a little amateur-ish if a bunch of posts say "Last edited by:(moderator's username)"
Just because I've been modifying some posts it shouldn't mean you should rely on me modifying them ALL the time. Take some responsibility and look like an educated person.
Just my two cents.
