Well how about this. Do some research on the role of a riot shield carrier. Because basicly the riot shield carrier provides cover for himself and one other teammate. If your doing more then that, your setting up yourself and the teammate to get hit.

The shield is most defiantly fine, and I do agree that it should be used with a pistol and /or knives only.
But be prepared for someone to throw a grenade right behind you. lol

If you wanna help your team out by being the shield for them while they advance to take vantage positions, then I'd say go for it. Riot shields are for support. Just look at riot control. Those shields are the first line of defense against mobs and any other dangers. If your ok with playing that ind of role in a match I would definatly go for it as the team your on would benefit greatly.
