Just had a thought that literally just popped into my head. I know a big complaint from the veteran players, and even a lot of the players in general, is that there are just too many players on the field at once.
A way to fix this would be to split the attendance into 2 separate groups. Group A would be on the field while group B would be at the staging area. This will improve game play by allowing people to actually move. This should also promote sales via concessions. If you go to staging to reload for the next game, then that's what you do. But if you go to staging to wait for group B to play their game, why not get a snack or a drink while you wait?
I have personally timed how long we take in staging before a game. A lot of the time it's upwards to 15 minutes. More than enough time for a game. I think this might be a great way to even out teams as well. You can split the groups up by age. I think this might bring back some very loyal veteran players as well as improve overall game play and add some fairness for the younger or newer players.
Thoughts? Comments?

Actually not a bad idea. Some ref coordination and a few more people working and that could be a possibility.

I totally understand where you are coming from on this. But. IMHO unless you are going to double the length of time kzoo is open then this option becomes unfair. I don't have a lot of time or money. So when I go I want to get the most out of my money. So if you are paying $15 for 4 hour of play. You are spending $3.75/hr. but if you pay $15 for 2 hours. You are up to $7.5/hr. and cut in play time down to only 2 hours. And if I am going to drive a hour and a half to come play. I want to play a lot more than just 2 hours. Otherwise the investment in time, money, and gas really isn't worth it.

You already spend upwards to 15 minutes or more in the staging area. So during that time another group would be playing. Therefore you actually aren't missing out on time. Ka would actually be utilizing that time. You already spend 15 minutes loading. Might as well have another group out there while you stand around loading. You don't lose any play time.

Your math has it cutting your play time in half, when in actuality you are just utilizing time in between games that isn't spent. So you still get your 4 hours of game time in.

I have been throwing this around for some time now. Not sure what the number should be where I switch to an A and B group, but it is something I want to try. If we get busy this weekend, I might try to implement this. We actually did it for 2 private parties that accidentally got double booked, and it worked fine. Good idea.

Well for sure if you have another 100 players + you should try it out. 50 player in A group 50 in B group 25 players on each team. Who knows what could happen.

I like this idea. It actually ties to a thread I started about the "perfect" number of players that the field can handle. I have been to KA at times where there are just too many on the field at one time. It is just a wall of plastic and after a bit you notice the newer players who are nervous about getting hit just standing at the spawn and not being involved and learn the game. If you broke it down into A & B group I think players would be more active and the game itself would be more active and the field would be more open.
Just a side idea - At the end of the day you could take the Group A winner against the Group B winner and have a quick winner take all game of some sort.

I think it would get a little cramped as far as people tac gear and gun cases and whatnot in the staging area. Maybe have two seperate sections in the staging area as well?

Splitting into two groups wont make the staging area any more crowded becuase 100 people is 100 people. I have seen them use the upstairs as a spill over before when it got crowded. Having two groups should actually help congestion because only 1/2 the players will be reloading while the other half is on the field.
KA is reaching the point where a decision needs to be made on possibly taking the next step and expanding. The guys have done a great job growing their idea i to what we see today.

If you did do it, maybe cut back reg. fee to just $10 if your playing a split game day. If that were the case then I'm 100% for it!!!

Why should they have to lower their price if you get the same amount of playing time?

Why should they have to lower their price if you get the same amount of playing time? Your going to have to show how you are getting the same amount of game play. As most players are ready to go from the next game in the allotted time between games. So lets say this.. Game time is 20 Minutes per game, Time in between games is 5 minutes So now you would be having Group a out on the field for 20minutes while group b is sitting waiting for 20 minutes to get back out on the field and play. Some one by the end of the day is going to loose out on 20 minutes of game play from the day. I think the best route would be to have sessions for each day if the field is that crowed. I would say break the day into two time frames 11am till say 5pm and 5 pm till 10pm. Have sign ups for them each day, if you want to play both sessions, you have to pay for both sessions. They do this at a field here in Washington, it is broken down into 3-4 sessions and they have a player cap for each session. It helps keep the play still enjoyable with out over crowding on the field.
