I heard some talk a while ago about expanding the field to include the building directly to the North of the outdoor section of the field. I talked to some of the KA staff, and they said that they had/were thinking about it, but the building would need a lot of work to make it safe for airsoft play. Has this idea been shelved for now, or is it pretty much unfeasible at this point?
If a lot of man hours would need to be put in revamping the building, do you guys think that any players would show up for a work day with some light incentives (free day of play, some food, BB's, something along those lines)?

Generally it's not that kind of work that they are talking about (I'm assuming most people who volunteer to help know very little about Contracting specifications.). Likely the "Work" that would need to be done would be to bring the building up to current building code that would get the City's approval to be used. The second thing is probably the cost factor. A building is a sizeable investment that will take a LOT of weekend games to generate the revenue necessary to pay it off.
A decision like that has to be made with long term thoughts. Most mortgages are 10-30 years, and if at some point you stop the business, it still has to be paid. Take that into account with the way the economy and current market is for Commerical buildings, and there's no guessing as to why they'd be a bit tenative about the move.
It's admirable that you guys are willing to volunteer, I just don't know if that's what is holding back the process.

It's a fixer upper that's for sure. A lot of professional work needs to be done to a lot of it to make it legally safe.

Huh, I never thought there'd be people chomping on the bit to volunteer.
If structural integrity of the building or other major issues would need to be dealt with though, that would definitely put a hold on things, possibly indefinitely. On the flip side, if it's in bad shape, that would obviously lower the price.
EDIT: Found myself get killed in one of your videos, Spaz. I was a little slow on the draw, literally. Fun to see it from your angle.

I believe the guys over there are looking at another building possibly in a better neighborhood. However if that doesn't work, I believe they have plans to renovate and fix up the place they are currently in and possibly get the upstairs back in play.

Personal ill love to have the upstairs back up and running. I think it would be less of a pain in the butt then the second building.

I was just at KA this weekend, and if I remember right Hollis was saying that they're still looking into alternative locations. For an example, he brought up "old K-Marts." It sounded like nothing is set in stone though.

You guys also gotta look at where it's placed though. If they have a place all of the way in Allegan, they would probably get less of a crowd. Portage and Kalamazoo is right in the center of everything so they can get a good crowd from all of the small towns.

I agree with Creep. They're not going to look for a place that's far from the current location. It would take too much work to try and move things that far. Also, there are plenty of places around here that are possible locations for the next building. The key to it is building up enough revenue to afford the rent on these buildings, which is where we as a community come in. I have seen this place grow from the very beginning and I know there are enough players in the community to spread the word and get more people to come.
