I am ashamed I did not see this sooner. I have been toiling day and night on my 17 volume study concerning the Third Reich's non-lethal firearms they dubbed "Airsofttenn" that they used primarily to kill small varmint and to shoot french men in their ankles as they rode their bicycles through the streets.
They really perfected the art of hiding behind those distinctly European, waist high walls, only to pop out and shoot the paperboy in his buttocks. After which, they would duck back behind the wall and make stereotypically German sounding remarks followed by "OH YAAA VE VILL SHOOT ZEM"
In 1943, during their occupation of most of Western Europe, the Weimeracht soldiers were known to compete with one another in shooting bottles of milk while said bottles were being carried by the milk man. It is estimated that over 1,000,000 pints of milk were wasted in 1943 alone.
Eventually, they started dicking around and shooting each other with their Airsofttenn, usually after a few drinks. This resulted in in a lack of hit calling, elitism, and general ass-hattery.
TL:DR: The Nazis invented Airsoft, u mad?
