using a heavier weight bb does lower the fps but not the energy. The energy is what needs to be regulated. It doesn't matter if you use a .40 gram bb to play with as long as your gun doesn't shoot faster than 350 with .20. Take it from me, you don't want get shot at close range in the side of the head or fingers with anything faster than 350fps with .20s

Going off of what Gunny and Shift said low 300s is plenty trust me 300 to 330 stings enough 360 to 375 that's almost unsafe as far as changing the spring goes talk to maverick his prices are fair he can get you set up.

I know that but when I talked to loony he said if it made it under 350 with any bb you could use it you just had to keep useing that same weight bb. I think you misunderstood what Loony said. However to clear things up I have sent Loony a pm asking him on this subject. Just follow the posted rules for FPS that are posted on the website and you will be fine.

I used Overkills xcr sunday and that was shooting around 320 and that was completely fine. anything above 350 even 350.1 seems way to much.

^Thirnburgh, Really dude? Before I got a spring change in my gun it chronoed 368-376 after a Two day MILsim and over 4,500 bb's later it chronoed at 349-353. 5-10 mags isn't going to drop the fps by 50 or more.

The only time ive seen them allow a gun that was shooting hot, was sunday foxtrots GBB mp7 was shooting like 360, but as he uses it, the fps goes down.

My brothers gun was shooting close to 400 FPS but they let him but .25 bbs and then he was shooting around 150 FPS.. Ummm you sure about that? By making a switch from .20 to .25 reduces the fps by only 10-20 fps not 250.... I am just saying what he told me but the point still stands they let him us a .25 BB so he could still play.

And the only reason they allowed it was because my gas gun was jumping from 340 to 358 or so and it was new tank of pro pain and was just breaking it in, I re cronoed it later and it was 340 to 330 with .20's.

using a heavier weight bb does lower the fps but not the energy. The energy is what needs to be regulated. Take it from me, you don't want get shot at close range in the side of the head or fingers with anything faster than 350fps with .20s Gunny Yep, as the pellet weight goes up from .20 grams, the speed has to come down from 350 FPS. The scale is as such and there is a 'Speed Limit' board outside the staging area with the scale on it. .20g < 351 FPS .23g < 327 FPS .25g < 314 FPS .28g < 297 FPS .30g < 287 FPS .36g < 262 FPS .40g < 249 FPS .43g < 240 FPS If your gun is shooting too fast (FPS), it's possible that you may be able to achieve an acceptable speed with heavier pellets. For instance, there have been instances where Omega was too hot with .20g pellets but was within limits with .23g pellets. Also, if you are capable of servicing your own gearbox, you can trim your spring by 1/4 to 1/2 of a single coil. Trim a little, chrono, rinse and repeat until you get below the limit for your pellet of choice. Again, you don't have to cut very much off of the spring. Or you can get a M100 or lower spring. Personally, I shoot .25g at around 290 FPS. Speed, to me, is secondary to accuracy.

That is a great post and I agree with some of these comments.
Let's all try hard to shoot for 330 with a .20
And just so everyone knows the most common speed I see every weekend is around 290-320

Thanks for taking my comment off. But I know every gun I have bought out of the box yes it's shooting hot, but after you break her in, the fps drops and eventually settles in a good spot. Maybe it will take more then that but it's at least a try before you go and pay for a new spring or wait a while for it to get fixed because we all know maverick is busy! Jeez that's all I was saying no need to say stuff like that!

We understood your point and the important thing is the FPS limit question was solved no need for anyone to get upset and take shots at each other.
